Abstract

This bibliographical work details the history of the disease. Brucellosis is an infection caused by bacteria of the genus Brucella spp. These bacteria infect livestock, easily transmitting between individuals of different species, including humans. Transmission occurs primarily through ingestion of contaminated food and water, uterine secretions, aborted fetuses and uteruses, and licking the reproductive organs of sick animals. Bovine brucellosis is a disease that affects cattle, with negative consequences for both the livestock industry and public health if it is not adequately controlled.
